Vintage Days!
August 12, 2007
Our Museum is holding its annual Vintage Days on August 12, 2007 from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 pm. Originally Vintage Days was the Shorebird Festival until the Museum took over organization of the event.
Admission is $5.00 for Adults, $3.00 for Students, and children under six years of age get in Free! There will be a concession on the Museum Grounds that will be selling Coffee ($1.00), Pop($1.00), Bottled Water($1.00), plain Hamburgers($2.50), and Homemade Pie($2.00).
Vintage Days is our way of giving people a glimpse of an earlier period by demonstrating the way things were done then. This year there will be threshing, binding and stuking, spinning, wheel writing and portable saw mill demonstrations as well as old time music and animals (horses, reindeer, etc.). There will also be tours of the museum and Brice Homestead available.
Vintage Days is primarily a fundraising event.
There are five contestants running for the title of Vintage Queen. In
alphabetical order they are: Jean Airries for the Wadena Arts Council, Ann
Banadyga for the Wadena Seniors and Pensioners, Elsie Domeij for the Wadena Van
Corporation, Lana Hart for the Wadena Elementary School Playground Equipment,
and Michelle Patenaude for the Wadena and District Museum. The contestants are selling raffle tickets
throughout town and the surrounding area. Our raffle prizes this year are: Grand
Prize of a YardWorks Cordless Compact Lawn Mower, 2nd Prize – $100.00, and 3rd
prize is $50.00. The contestant who sells the most raffle tickets becomes the Vintage
Queen and half of the proceeds after expenses go to their club and the other
half goes to the Wadena & District
